West Ham striker Enner Valencia scores first goal since January for Ecuador

Valencia netted in a 2-2 draw against Paraguay.

West Ham United striker Enner Valencia has certainly been enjoying his international break. He is currently away with the Ecuador national team and yesterday was in the starting XI as they faced Paraguay.

It was the West Ham star who got the ball rolling in a 2-2 draw with their South American rivals.

Valencia showed good poise to compose himself after a long-range effort from an Ecuador team-mate cannoned back off the crossbar into his path. He controlled the ball, before smashing home a left-foot half-volley into the back of the net.

Valencia has had an injury-ravaged season at West Ham. He has played just 18 times for West Ham this season – scoring five times for the Hammers.

His goal for Ecuador was his 14th for his nation, but was not enough for a win.

FC Ingolstadt striker Dario Lezcano scored twice for Paraguay before Emelec striker Angel Mena scored a 90th minute equaliser for Ecuador.

Next up for the West Ham striker is Colombia on Tuesday before heading back to England for West Ham’s game with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
