Liverpool have been liked with Cologne star Jonas Hector.

Cologne star Jonas Hector says for the moment a move away from the club hasn’t crossed his mind though a call from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could alter the situation, Eurosport report.

The Reds have been linked with the defender in recent weeks as Klopp looks to strengthen his squad this summer ahead of an intended challenge on the top four next season.

Hector, a full German international, has been made aware of Liverpool’s reported interest and he hints a call from the former Borussia Dortmund boss could tempt him away from Cologne.

“You always have to consider whether you are ready to take the next step. But at the moment I am not thinking about it. I think what we have to do at FC Koln is enough,” he explained.

However, when pushed on what he would do if Liverpool boss Klopp gave him a call, Hector responded: “Then I would start to think about it."

Hector, 25, is predominantly a left-back and that’s certainly area for concern at Anfield with question marks continually being raised over Alberto Moreno’s defensive capabilities.

The Cologne star has made 26 Bundesliga appearances this season, averaging 2.6 interceptions, 2.4 effective clearances and two tackles per league encounter.

He would represent a good option for Liverpool this summer, and his ability to play as a holding midfielder would offer Klopp versatility as well we experience at the very top level.
