Pundit and former Arsenal star Paul Merson has told Sky Sports that he thinks Tottenham left back Danny Rose is the most improved player in the Premier League this season.
Rose, 25, joined Spurs from the Leeds United academy way back in 2007, and arrived as a left winger as he made his way up through the ranks at White Hart Lane.
Loan spells with Watford, Peterborough United, Bristol City and Sunderland followed, as Rose converted to become a left back, and enjoyed a decent season under Mauricio Pochettino last season.
This term though, Rose has been simply outstanding. Defensively he has improved markedly, whilst going forward he continues to cause mayhem with his pace and bursting runs forward.
Now called up to the England squad, Rose is in line for his first senior cap for the Three Lions, as Roy Hodgson rewards him for playing a major part in Tottenham's push for the Premier League title this season.
Pundit and former Arsenal star Paul Merson has now had his say on Rose, suggesting that he should be in line to start for England at Euro 2016 this summer, before making a bold claim about the player.
Merson told Sky Sports is the most improved player in the Premier League, praising him for his defensive work as well as his pace going forward - and given Rose's development since Pochettino's arrival back in 2014, it's hard to disagree with his statement.
"I like Danny Rose, I think Danny Rose has been the most improved player of the season, in my opinion." said Merson. "I think he's been very good for Tottenham this year. He's defended very well, he's got forward well and he's quick," he added.
