Germany boss Joachim Low is happy for Leicester City defender Robert Huth, but he is not in his plans

Joachim Low 2 Germany

Huth already has 19 caps for Germany.

Germany national team manager Jogi Low has been commenting today on the potential of Leicester City defender Robert Huth to earn a call-up to the Germany team.

The centre-back has been in fantastic form this season as Leicester challenge for the Premier League title.

Unfortunately, it seems as though Huth is not in his plans. Low appears to be looking toward the future and is quoted as telling Focus he is not in his plans, although could get a call-up if injuries crop up:

“Robert has played a great season, he is a very good defender, I am happy for him.

“If something extraordinary happens it could be interesting.

“But for the European Championships I am planning to take other players.”

Huth has formed a fantastic partnership in the heart of defence with Jamaican international Wes Morgan this season and has been one of the best defenders in the division.

He already has 19 caps for Germany, picked up during his time with Chelsea and Middlesbrough. He even played at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He has not featured for Germany since 2009 and the nation are currently World Champions - so getting back in the fold was always going to prove difficult.

It would seem that he will not be joining the likes of Jamie Vardy, Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante in making a late surge for Leicester involvement at Euro 2016.
