The Dane made his international debut a year ago today.
Erik Sviatchenko has been celebrating a special anniversary today. The Celtic defender made his international debut for Denmark a year ago today.
Then with former team FC Midtjylland he featured from the start as a Nicklas Bendtner hat-trick saw Denmark beat the United States 3-2 in Aarhus.
Now the Celtic man has posted this message on his Facebook page ahead of an interesting meeting with Scotland later this week:
Sviatchenko featured yesterday as Denmark defeated Iceland 2-1 and will be hoping to get one over on Scotland, despite now playing his football in the country.
Celtic finalised a deal to bring Danish international defender Erik Sviatchenko from FC Midtjylland on a four-and-a-half year deal at the club in January.
The fee for the player was reported by the BBC to be in the region of £1.5 million and Bhoys fans were certainly excited to see this potentially top talent head to Glasgow.
He has featured in 10 games for Celtic so far and is looking like settling in nicely into Scottish football.
With a full pre-season under his belt for next term he should prove a good signing.
But for now, he is focussed on upsetting some Scotsmen this week on international duty.
