Could Tottenham Hotspur really bring the Liverpool forward to White Hart Lane?
Bookmakers Ladbrokes have released the odds of Liverpool striker Christian Benteke finding a new Premier League club next season, and Tottenham Hotspur fans may be interested to know that Spurs are currently second favourites for the Belgian international’s signature.
The 25-year-old only arrived at Anfield last summer from Aston Villa but he has managed just eight goals in 35 appearances, and while he has scored vital late strikes this season he may soon be surplus to requirements if Liverpool bring in a new forward as is widely expected.
Tottenham certainly need more depth in the striking department, despite Harry Kane’s ongoing brilliance, but it remains to be seen if Benteke would move from one bench to another, with opportunities to start likely to be at a premium at White Hart Lane.
When utilised well Benteke is one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League and at odds of 8/1 to move to White Hart Lane later this year a few Tottenham fans may take a punt.
But in truth it is far more likely that he would leave for West Ham United, who are 6/1 favourites for his signature.
There he could be first-choice and would thrive on the crosses of Dimitri Payet and Michail Antonio, allowing him to get his Premier League career back on track.
