The Chelsea goalkeeper has not been at his best for his club this season.
Thibaut Courtois has been given a £73 million price tag, in the hope of warning off La Liga giants Real Madrid. The Evening Standard are reporting that Madrid were planning to switch their attention to the Belgian stopper after repeated efforts to snare their number one target - David de Gea, have failed.
Rumours are bound to be circulating, with Chelsea certainties to miss out on Champions League football next term.
In what has been a terrible season for The Blues, Courtois has struggled to reach the heights of last year's title winning campaign. He has not kept goal with as much authority and the aura of calm he carried seems to have disappeared. He is ranked 18th in saves made and 17th in clean sheets kept.
In the 19 games he has played he has only achieved four clean sheets. While Chelsea's struggles and his lengthly spell on the sidelines would certainly have contributed to his poor form, the price tag his club have set seems rather extortianate.
Chelsea quite obviously have every faith in their young goalkeeper's ability, and do not want to lose him to one of Europe's elite clubs.
