Leicester City striker Shinji Okazaki and Southampton defender Maya Yoshida score in 5-0 Japan rout

Japan ran out comfortable winners against Afghanistan today.

Japan took on Afghanistan in a FIFA World Cup qualifier today and came away from the tie with an impressive 5-0 win.

It was also a game which saw goals from two Premier League operators.

Shinji Ozazaki recently scored a special goal for Leicester in their title hunt against Newcastle United. He scored another fantastic goal in this game. The Leicester star swivelled past an Afghan defender with relative ease before slotting home to make it 1-0 in Saitama. It was his 47th goal for Japan in what was his 99th cap – a fantastic record for the Foxes striker.

Meanwhile Southampton defender Maya Yoshida showed once again he is not averse to an international goal.

The Saints star was brave to stick his head in to nod home beyond the Afghanistan keeper – getting a punch in the head for his troubles. He brushed it off however and this was the Southampton player’s third goal of the qualifying process with Japan.

Next up for the Leicester and Southampton stars is a fixture with their closest rivals in qualifying Syria at home.
