West Ham not the same without Mark Noble, says Tony Cottee

Mark Noble

The midfielder has been impressive for Slaven Bilic's this season.

West Ham United are not the same without Mark Noble, former Hammers star Tony Cottee has told London 24.

The midfielder is set to play in his testimonial this week following a lifelong association with the club.

It comes during arguably his best season at the club, in which he has starred in the heart of midfield as the Hammers push for Champions League football.

His important is often overlooked as the likes of Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini take the headlines, but Cottee insists this West Ham side is not the same without him.

“It is Mark Noble’s testimonial on Monday and he thoroughly deserves it,” he told London 24.

“He has been a great servant at a time when players go from club to club and he has shown this season what an excellent player he is.”

“Payet and Lanzini get the headlines, but this West Ham team is not the same without him.”

West Ham will now be hoping that Noble and co can continue their impressive performances as the season draws to a close.

They are currently competing on two fronts, with the top four in their grasp and a potential place in the FA Cup semi final if they overcome Manchester United in their quarterfinal replay.

Indeed it is the latter of those that has caught the imagination the most, with Noble himself having admitted he is eyeing FA Cup glory over a top four finish.

If that is to happen, people like Noble maintaining their performances will be key.
