Steven Fletcher has played down reports linking him with Celtic in an interview with the Herald Scotland.
Fletcher was consistently linked with Celtic throughout the January transfer window, and he seems to have been touted as a possible signing for the Bhoys for some time.
The 28-year-old ended up being loaned to Marseille in the previous transfer window, rather than completing a switch to the Scottish Premiership side. However, with his contract expiring in the summer, the rumours are set to start all over again.
And when quizzed over whether he would be interested in a move to Celtic, Fletcher said: "I don’t know what to say about that. I think I’ve been linked with Celtic since I was 18 but I’m looking forward to the situation I’m in – although at times it can be scary as well.”
Fletcher is currently under contract at Sunderland, but he is widely expected to depart the Stadium of Light in the summer.
The Scotland international does not appear to have convinced Sam Allardyce that he is capable of starting for the Black Cats.
Fletcher has made five Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille to date, but he is yet to score for the French club.
