Five of Carlos Carvalhal's team have been handed a call-up.
Three of the Owls' team - Barry Bannan, Daniel Pudil and Aiden McGeady - are all in contention to feature for their respective countries' senior team, while Lucas Joao has been called up for the Portugal under-23 squad and Joe Wildsmith is in the England under-21 squad for their upcoming game with Switzerland.
And Lees believes that the recognition from international coaches proves that Wednesday are a team in the ascendancy.
"It is really good we have got so many guys away now. It means we have got quality players," he told the Star. "I wish them well."
While Carlos Carvalhal may be concerned that his players may sustain injuries during their time away from Hillsborough, he will also be pleased that a handful of his players will be competing at a high intensity over the next week or so.
The Owls' back-to-back 3-0 wins helped them develop some momentum going into the break, and with these players probably wanting to impress their international bosses, there is a chance that some of that momentum will still be there once the squad gets together to get ready for their game with Huddersfield next Saturday.
