Villa are set for relegation to the Championship, as Remi Garde's men sit 12 points adrift of safety at the bottom of the Premier League table, and the club appear to be planning for their future outside of the Premier League.
Whether it's Garde or another manager in charge next season, Villa need to strengthen their squad, and it seems that the Villa hierarchy are prioritising young players immediately.
The Birmingham Mail report that Villa are set to announce the signing of left back Oscar Borg, who has been told he has no future with current club West Ham United.
The 18-year-old, who was once compared to Real Madrid star Gareth Bale by the Daily Mail, has great pace and attacking ability from left back, but despite going on trial with Manchester United back in 2014, Borg hasn't developed as expected at Upton Park.
Borg, who joined the Hammers at the age of just 13, is being allowed to leave on a free transfer, and will allegedly pen a two-year contract with Villa.
Having stalled at West Ham, Villa will now be hoping to get the best out of Borg's potential, and offers some squad strengthening ahead of the summer transfer window.
Do you think Borg can become a star at Aston Villa?
