Ray Parlour predicts the Championship's top six

Burnley, Middlesbrough, Hull City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County are all competing for promotion from the Championship.

Ray Parlour has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSPORT, which was broadcast on 23rd March, that he believes Burnley and Middlesbrough will be promoted from the Championship this season.

The former Arsenal man feels that now Aitor Karanka has agreed to stay at the Riverside Stadium, he will guide Boro into the top two.

Parlour also feels that Hull City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County will make up the play offs.

“Burnley and Boro, as Karanka has stayed,” the former England international said. “In the play offs - Hull City, Brighton, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby. I’m sure Birmingham will have a good run at it [but won’t get there].”

As things stand, Burnley appear to be the favourites to win promotion to the Premier League.

Sean Dyche’s men have been in wonderful form of late, and they have established a four point lead at the top of the table.

Their nearest rivals are Brighton, but Middlesbrough and Hull, who are in third and fourth place respectively, both have a game in hand over Chris Hughton’s side.

It is then a fair way back to Derby and Wednesday, but they will both be hoping to put together a strong run of form to elevate themselves up the table between now and the end of the season.
