Norwich 'keeper Remi Matthews set for Doncaster Rovers

HITC Sport understands Norwich goalkeeper set for loan move

Norwich City goalkeeper Remi Matthews is poised to join Doncaster Rovers on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson has targeted a move for Matthews as he looks to bolster his goalkeeping options at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Matthews, who has come through the ranks at Norwich, has yet to make his first-team debut at Carrow Road.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed two spells out on loan during the last two seasons at Burton Albion and he made six appearances for the Brewers in League One this term before returning to Norwich in January.

Matthews is highly-regarded at Norwich and he was handed a new two-year deal last summer to keep him at the club until the summer of 2017.

Norwich are happy to loan out Matthews again before the close of the loan window as the keeper is well down the pecking order in Alex Neill's first-team plans.

Norwich feel Matthews would be best served to go out on loan to gain some valuable first-team experience and have sanctioned the move to Doncaster.
