Matt Le Tissier says this factor should earn Tottenham midfielder an England starting place

The player-turned-pundit believes that Dele Alli's link-up play with Harry Kane should be enough to earn him a starting spot over other midfielders.

Former England midfielder Matt Le Tissier has claimed that Dele Alli's ability to link-up with Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane should see the midfielder given a starting role for England, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

Alli and Kane have been two of Spurs' brightest sparks in a successful season for the North London side, and much of Mauricio Pochettino's side's success has been built on the understanding the two youngsters have built between one another.

In addition to his seven goals in 42 appearances in his breakthrough season at White Hart Lane, Alli has also set up seven of Kane's 21 Premier League strikes this campaign.

The 19-year-old's impressive form has also seen him win four caps for England this season, and in the only one of those games in which he started alongside Kane, the 2-0 friendly win over France in November, he found the net with a superb 25-yeard strike.

Le Tissier believes that the tantalising prospect of the pair carrying their telepathic understanding at club level into the England side should be enough for Hodgson to go with Alli in his midfield over the other players in contention for a place.

The 47-year-old said, as quoted by the Daily Mail: "Kane and Alli are fantastic together. As manager of the national side Roy's probably looking at that and that will help Alli's case.

"The fact that their relationship this season has gone from strength to strength could tip it in his favour."

Le Tissier's is just the latest call for the Spurs pair to become regular starters in the England side as this summer's European Championship in France draws ever nearer.

Kane, the Premier League's top scorer, is almost certain to be one of the first names on the teamsheet after already proving he can make it at international level by scoring three times in his first eight senior caps.

Alli is still establishing himself for his country but after scoring on his first start in his most recent cap, he will be hopeful that Hodgson is not put off by the teenager's youth when the summer tournament comes around.
