Leeds United miss out on Marco Silvestri replacement as Danny Rogers signs new Aberdeen deal

Danny Rogers has signed a new deal with Aberdeen.

A potential goalkeeper signing for Leeds United this summer appears to be off the table after Danny Rogers signed a contract extension with Aberdeen, the Scottish club announced via their official website.

The Scottish Sun reported in the January transfer window that Leeds United were lining up a move for the goalkeeper, whose previous deal was set to expire in June.

Rogers, 21, has been out on loan at Falkirk this season, and intends to fight for his place at Aberdeen next season and establish himself as first choice.

Rogers is a Republic of Ireland under-21 international and signing him up on a free transfer would have been a real coup for Leeds.

Current goalkeeper Marco Silvestri has produced mixed form during his two years at Elland Road, capable of the sublime, but also looking suspect on his off days.

Now if the Championship side intend on making a move for an alternative this summer they will have to look elsewhere.
