Liverpool are currently training in a warmer climate.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the club’s official website about the fitness of his players.
Many of the Reds’ first-team are currently away with their countries for international games but plenty of players headed to Tenerife with Klopp for some warm weather training this week.
Alberto Moreno was one first-team player to return to the training field after a spell out and Klopp could not hide his pleasure at having the Spaniard available once again.
“It’s really big for us,” Klopp told liverpoolfc.com. “It was really good and he felt absolutely nothing, so from tomorrow he is completely back in the race, which is very important for us.”
While confirming that Brazilian duo Roberto Firmino and Lucas Leiva were also in a good way, the Liverpool boss explained that long-term injured pair Danny Ings and Joe Gomez could use the warm weather sessions to their advantage.
The pair are unlikely to feature for Liverpool again this season after serious injuries but it is positive news to hear that they are able to make the most of the trip to Tenerife and build on their fitness in time for the vital pre-season to come.
Liverpool are currently ninth in the Premier League table with their weekend capitulation against Southampton seemingly ending their hopes of finishing in the top four.
But with huge matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund on the horizon there is still plenty to play for.
