Derby's Jake Buxton was delighted to make his comeback against Nottingham Forest.

Derby County defender Jake Buxton has told the club's official website that making his comeback against Nottingham Forest was extra sweet.

The Rams beat their local rivals 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a second half goal from Markus Olsson, making up for their loss to Forest earlier in the season.

It was Buxton's first Championship appearance of the season after more than a year out of action, coming off the bench in the second half.

He said: "It was lovely - it was a great feeling to get back on the pitch and put on the jersey.

“The reception that I received from the fans was absolutely fantastic and something that touched me deep down in my heart.

“The opportunity is what I’ve been waiting for and I’ve had to bide my time but I’m glad it came against Forest."

To make his return in a game with such a feel good factor has evidently given the 31-year-old a big lift, and he will be determined to play a role in helping the Rams win promotion.

Derby are currently fifth in the Championship, inside the play-off spots, but seven back from an automatic promotion position.

Forest meanwhile are in 15th place as a result of the defeat at the iPro Stadium, 18 points behind the Rams.
