Gareth Southgate says every Everton youngster shares this trait

Everton have a range of youth team players called up to England's squads at different age groups.

England under-21 boss Gareth Southgate has spoken positively about Everton’s youngsters, on the Toffees’ official site.

Everton have provided a number of players to England’s youth teams in recent years, with the likes of John Stones and Ross Barkley progressing through the age-groups to make an impact at senior level.

And Southgate says that every player he has called up from Everton has had a very strong character.

“It’s important that we understand where the players are at, what their form is like and what type of characters they are,” he said. “I have to say, the boys we have from Everton are all very good characters - and that’s a common trait among all the players we’ve selected from the club.”

Southgate is set to work with Brendan Galloway during the current international break, as the defender has recently been called into the under-21 squad.

Southgate has also worked with Toffees defender Luke Garbutt previously.

Galloway is one of eight Everton youngsters who have been called up to England’s youth squads.

Mason Holgate and Joe Williams have been included in England’s under-20’s squad, while Callum Connolly, Jonjoe Kenny and Ryan Ledson will join up with the under-19’s and a further three players will be in the under-18’s set up.
