The Celtic teenager impressed for the under-20s earlier this week.
Celtic academy coach Tommy McIntyre has been speaking to the club’s official website after he watched his under-20 side run out 4-1 winners against their Dundee United counterparts on Tuesday afternoon.
Goals from Scott Allan, Stuart Armstrong, Calvin Miller and Jack Aitchison put the young Hoops 4-0 up before United scored a late consolation via Ali Coote and there were some great individual performances from the Celtic players on show.
Allan was superb throughout, proving emphatically that he deserves more minutes for Celtic’s first-team with a goal and two assists, while 18-year-old Miller was a constant threat who would have had a hat-trick on another day.
The two players surely have a big role to play in Celtic’s future, but it will be interesting to see if 16-year-old Aitchison follows suit.
The striker was singled out for praise from McIntyre and while it is likely to be a few years before he is knocking on the manager’s door asking for a first-team chance, the teenager is certainly doing the right things on the field.
“Jack’s doing really well at training and has trained a couple of times with the first-team as well,” McIntyre told celticfc.net. “He keeps his feet on the ground and he’s a good young prospect for us.
“He has good potential but we just need to nurture it and make sure we look after him and don’t over play him.”
