The Danish internationals are enjoying some friendly banter in the title hunt.

This season’s title race looks like being between two teams who have never won the Premier League title before – as Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur lead the way in the English top-flight.

Both teams would not have expected to be in this situation at the start of the 2015-16 campaign but now they are in pole position to win the title.

This must make for interesting interactions when the Danish national team get together.

Denmark’s goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and Tottenham Hotspur’s attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen are currently in the Danish national team and are set to feature against Iceland and Scotland in upcoming friendlies – attempting to win their nations first game since last June.

Speaking to BT in Denmark this week the Tottenham star has revealed that the title rivals do still text, despite being in a battle for the big time:

"It's always good to be back and take a look up at Schmeichel and make them a little nervous. We have to see where we end up, but it will definitely be good if we finish in the top two.

"It's a bit annoying that they keep winning.

"It deserves obviously respect for what they do, but they have also been incredibly lucky.

“That only makes it more fun when we meet in with the national team.

“We have also sent some messages to each other about losing points soon.”

It is good to hear that the rivalry for the Premier League title is not getting in the way of these compatriot’s friendship as they prepare to represent their country.

Tottenham fans will however be hoping that Eriksen will be sending a gloating text to Schmeichel come the end of the season.
