Garde is widely expected to lose his job as Villa manager in the coming days, after what has been a disastrous spell at the helm.
The French boss was appointed to take over from Tim Sherwood last year, but he has had minimal impact.
Garde has won just two Premier League matches since taking charge, and with Villa now 12 points adrift of safety the club appear to have decided to move in a different direction.
At the moment, former Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson is the bookies’ favourite to land the managerial position at Villa Park, and Keys believes he would be a great appointment for the Midlands club.
"Are Villa at last coming to their senses? If Remi Garde goes this week surely this time they'll turn to Nigel Pearson? He's perfect for the job," he said. "And do you know what else it would almost certainly do? It would most likely lead to an exodus of Leicester's back room team. Again - watch this space!"
Villa have targeted Pearson as they plan for next campaign in the Championship.
The Claret and Blues are destined to be playing in the second tier next season, and Pearson knows the division like the back of his hand.
Pearson helped Leicester win the Championship back in the 2013/14 campaign, and Villa will hope he can have a similar impact for them.
