Report: Real Betis eyeing up Everton star Bryan Oviedo or Celtic's Emilio Izaguirre as left-back solution

Real Betis, Benito Villamarin Stadium

Betis are preparing to lose Juan Manuel Vargas.

Reports in Spain today are suggesting that La Liga side Real Betis are targeting a new left-back in the summer – and that Everton and Celtic might be set for raiding.

A report in Don Balon is claiming that Betis are keen on a new left-back as they get set to lose their impressive Peruvian Juan Manuel Vargas.

The report claims that Vargas is wanted by teams in the Premier League, Serie A and the Bundesliga and that Betis are now drawing up a shortlist to replace the former Fiorentina star.

The two names at the top of that list are said by Don Balon to be Everton utility man Bryan Oviedo and Celtic’s out-of-favour stalwart Emilio Izaguirre.

Everton’s Costa Rican star has always struggled for regular first-team football at Goodison Park, with Leighton Baines for competition, but has made enough appearances this season to earn an automatic extension to his deal.

Meanwhile Honduran left-back Izaguirre has struggled for first-team football at Celtic recently – after the emergence of young Scottish talent Kieran Tierney. Now it looks like he could swap the green-and-white hoops of Celtic for the Verdiblancos in Seville.
