Report: Leicester planning another French raid, want Marseille's Nicolas N'Koulou for free

Leicester City are reportedly keen on signing Marseille defender Nicolas N'Koulou.

According to French news outlet Foot Mercato, Leicester City are hoping to land Marseille defender Nicolas N'Koulou on a free transfer this summer.

The Foxes sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a remarkable season, with Saturday's 1-0 win away at Crystal Palace taking them one step closer to the title.

Champions League football is virtually guaranteed for Claudio Ranieri's men, and that would open Leicester up to a whole different calibre of player when it comes to new signings, and it seems that they are setting their sights high ahead of the summer transfer window.

Foot Mercato report that Leicester are looking to sign Marseille defender Nicolas N'Koulou - allegedly a long-term target of manager Ranieri - when his contract expires this summer.

N'Koulou, 25, has racked up 68 caps for the Cameroon national team, and has played almost 200 times for Marseille since signing from Monaco back in 2011.

He many only stand at just over 6ft tall, but N'Koulou is a pacey centre back with impressive technical ability, and after the success of N'Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez at the King Power Stadium, it seems that Leicester are keen on another bargain raid on French football.

However, the Foxes aren't the only team credited with an interest. It's suggested that AC Milan, Schalke and Valencia are all keen on N'Koulou, but with Leicester being able to offer Champions League football, they may well hold the upper hand.

Do you think Leicester need to sign a new centre back this summer?
