Everton’s Romelu Lukaku to Real Madrid unlikely, says Graham Hunter

The Blues striker has recently been linked with a move to the La Liga giants.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is not likely to be Real Madrid’s number one target in the summer, Graham Hunter has told talkSPORT.

The Blues striker has been in sensational form for Roberto Martinez’s side this season, with 25 goals in all competitions so far.

18 of those have came in the Premier League as he competes with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy for the Golden Boot this season.

That form has not gone unnoticed either, with a report from the Sun claiming Real Madrid could make a £60m move for the Belgian in the summer transfer window.

However, Spanish football expert Graham Hunter says he is unlikely to be the club’s priority signing.

“Although Florentino Perez does spend willy-nilly, he does it based on marketing,” he told talkSPORT.

"He buys based on who he thinks will sell shirts around the world and exceptional young footballer though Lukaku is, I don't think he is in that category yet as far as Florentino Perez is concerned.”

"In all honesty, I don't think Romelu Lukaku is the number one priority for Real Madrid."

While Real Madrid may not be in for Lukaku this summer, there could be other European giants who are interested.

Paris St Germain may be among them, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic likely to leave when his contract expires and them in need of a replacement if he does.

Lukaku would represent an ideal substitute, with his age in particular meaning he is a sound investment for any team looking to buy.
