The Belgian is being linked with a summer exit after a fantastic 2015-16 season.
The Belgian has been in fantastic form this season, netting 25 times in 39 appearances, and that will no doubt be attracting the attention of potential suitors.
The Toffees struggles in the league will not help matters. Lukaku will want to be playing regular Champions League football – something Everton will not be able to offer him next season.
But one former Everton striker believes that the club can still hold on to Lukaku.
Graeme Sharp, who scored 159 goals for Everton in 426 appearances, believes that Everton could still convince Lukaku to stay – if they win the FA Cup.
He told BT Sport at the weekend:
“If he goes to the Euros and has a good Euros there will be people queuing up (to sign him). He has been fantastic for the football club.
“A young lad, an intelligent lad, who scores goals. Still learning, he’s not the finished article.
“I think it would be massive if they won the FA Cup could just give them the platform to say maybe we are going in the right direction.
“Listen we don’t know what the boy is thinking but he might think maybe we are going in the right direction; I might stay maybe for another year or two.”
Lukaku is no doubt going to be on many a big club’s radar after his impressive season with Everton and if he does impress for Belgium in France then Everton fans will again fear losing him.
But a FA Cup triumph might just convince Lukaku to give his Everton career one more year – and then see where he stands.
