The midfielder's stellar displays have earned him a call up to the France squad by Didier Deschamps.
The French star has been hugely impressive since joining from Marseille in the summer, with a series of impressive performances so far.
He has been key to the fine campaign they have enjoyed, with the Hammers currently competing for a Champions League place and FA Cup glory.
That has not gone unnoticed by France boss Didier Deschamps, who named him in his squad for the upcoming international break last week.
It could be argued Bilic would prefer his star man had avoided selection, but instead he insists they are pleased that his performances have been recognised.
“He’s happy, we are happy. He deserves it,” he told the Daily Mail.
“France have two very good games (against Holland and Russia), and hopefully he’s going to play in them.”
“He’ll train there with his friends, with top-quality players and coaches and he’s going to come back a little taller.”
The Hammers will now be hoping Payet can escape the international break unscathed, with him key to their top four hopes.
They are current fifth in the table and just a point behind Manchester City in fourth following their loss to Manchester United on Sunday.
Payet will be crucial to them maintaining their push after being the star for the majority of his first campaign in the Premier League.
