According to the Daily Mail, Southampton are interested in signing Walsall left back Rico Henry and Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost this summer.
The Saints performed a miraculous recovery to beat Liverpool 3-2 at St. Mary's Stadium on Sunday afternoon, having been 2-0 down against Jurgen Klopp's men.
In what has been an up-and-down season at times, Southampton sit just four points off a Champions League place, and have striker Graziano Pelle to thank after a superb display against Liverpool - but manager Ronald Koeman may end up having to replace the Italian.
The Daily Mail claim that Pelle, 30, may return to his native Italy in the summer, but Southampton may have already lined up a replacement by targeting Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost.
It's suggested that 26-year-old Dost - who will be familiar to Dutch boss Koeman having not only played for the Netherlands national team, but also having faced Koeman's Feyenoord side whilst playing for Heerenveen - has been lined up as a like-for-like replacement for Pelle.
After 20 goals last season, the 6ft 5in beanpole striker went into this season with a growing reputation, but has only scored nine goals having been supplanted by Max Kruse, making just 18 starts in all competitions, with Southampton potentially looking to offer him more of a key role on the South Coast.
As well as Dost, it's also claimed that Southampton are keen on Walsall left back Rico Henry, who has been labelled as the next Ashley Cole by many.
The 18-year-old has impressed in League One with his exceptional pace - hence the comparison to former England star Cole - and his displays have triggered major interest in his signature.
Southampton have a long history of developing young players, and whilst Koeman does have Ryan Bertrand at his disposal, Henry may be seen as a developmental prospect who can prove to be Bertrand's successor in years to come.
