Manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official site that he always sets his sides up to take the initiative in matches early.
Spurs scored within the first minute of their match against Bournemouth yesterday, and they went on to win the contest 3-0.
The Lilywhites never looked threatened throughout the match, and Pochettino was delighted with his side’s display.
“I think scoring so early helped us, we dominated and deserved that result,” Pochettino said. “It’s always the plan to score as soon as possible and today it was possible.
“The performance was good after that, we had control, created chances and we can feel very proud.
“This squad is fantastic, the players and the commitment they show every week, not just today but from the beginning of the season.”
Tottenham’s first goal set the tone for the match, as Harry Kane latched on to a Kyle Walker cross and finished adeptly.
Kane then added a second when he raced onto a Dele Alli through ball, before Christian Eriksen rounded off the scoring with a tap in.
Tottenham’s win has closed the gap on Leicester City, who currently sit on top of the Premier League, to five points.
Spurs have seven matches left to catch the Foxes and attempt to win their first ever Premier League title, with their next fixture coming against Liverpool at Anfield on April 2nd.
