Arsenal’s all-time top scorer Thierry Henry has taken to social networking site Twitter in order to send a message to Alex Iwobi following his first goal for the club.
The 19-year-old forward broke in to the Arsenal team earlier in the campaign, making his debut in a rather forgettable 3-0 League Cup defeat against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
After making appearances here and there in the Premier League, Iwobi was handed his Champions League debut at Nou Camp in midweek as he started Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat to Barcelona.
On a personal note it was a terrific experience for the youngster, and now he has completed a dream week with his first goal for the club in an excellent 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park.
Taking to Twitter in order to praise Iwobi on his deserved goal, Henry noted how hard work pays off.
Henry, despite often questioning Arsenal during his punditry duties for Sky Sports, will be thrilled to see his former side record a decent win at Everton with Iwobi and Danny Welbeck getting among the goals.
The result still leaves the Gunners 11 points behind Leicester City who won at Crystal Palace, yet it was a confident-looking performance and one which will lift spirits around the Emirates.
Iwobi is capable of playing in a number of positions in the final third, giving boss Arsene Wenger plenty of options and boosting his chances of making further appearances over the next two months.
