Skrtel's replacement? Klopp reportedly wants Hoffenheim's Niklas Sule to join Liverpool

Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule.

According to a report from German newspaper Bild, Liverpool are pursuing a deal for Hoffenheim centre back Niklas Sule ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Reds remarkably threw away a 2-0 lead at Southampton earlier today, with the Saints rallying back to win the game 3-2 in the dying seconds on the South Coast.

Many fans have pinned the blame on defender Martin Skrtel, who came on at half time with Liverpool 2-0 up, only to then serve up a horror show on his return to injury, handing Southampton the win.

Even with Joel Matip on his way to Anfield from Schalke at the end of the season, manager Jurgen Klopp may still need even more defensive reinforcements. Mamadou Sakho has yet to really live up to his billing since his 2013 move from Paris Saint-Germain, and whilst Dejan Lovren has improved under Klopp, questions still remain about the Croatian.

Now, German newspaper Bild report that Liverpool are hoping to sign Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule, with Klopp looking to use his knowledge of German football to help boost his Red side.

Sule, 20, is one of the brightest up-and-coming talents in the Bundesliga, and the giant 6ft 5in centre back has impressed on a regular basis since breaking into the Hoffenheim team back in 2013.

A former team-mate of Reds star Roberto Firmino, Sule would offer a dominant physical presence in the Liverpool defence, and whilst he's still very young, he has bags of potential for Klopp to work with, if Liverpool can indeed get a deal done this summer.

Do you think Sule would be a good signing for Liverpool?
