The midfield maestro sounds like he feels Leeds can go up next season.
Leeds United may be in turmoil off the pitch but their academy continues to thrive. One of the best examples of this is midfield gem Lewis Cook.
The England youth international has all the ability to become a star for Leeds and many would also argue a future England international career is on the cards.
Of course this leaves Leeds fans concerned about his future.
Plenty of teams have been linked with moves for Cook in the future - especially those in the Premier League.
However, speaking to The Sun this week, Cook did not sound like a player ready to depart in the summer.
He spoke about his desire to put together a Premier League promotion chase next season:
“The squad at the moment is good enough to be promoted. Everything has been sorted off the field I feel now and we can really focus on our football.
“Definitely next season we can hopefully put a run together and make a push for promotion.”
Cook is of course out of contract in 2017 and Leeds fans will rightly worry after the way in which Sam Byram departed for West Ham in January that a repeat could occur with Cook.
But it seems the midfielder wants to help Leeds fight for promotion next season rather than move on in the summer.
If Leeds could tie him down to a new deal that would be a massive boost.
