Jenas: 'Deadly' Lanzini caused Chelsea so many problems

The West Ham playmaker was the subject of praise on Saturday night.

Pundit Jermaine Jenas waxed lyrical about West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini on Saturday night, according to the BBC's Match of the Day.

Indeed, he feels the 'deadly' and 'clever' Argentine caused too many problems for Chelsea to be able to handle at Stamford Bridge.

Lanzini netted with a wonderful strike against the Blues but that was far from the sum of his contribution in west London.

And Jenas told MOTD on Saturday night: "Lanzini was at the forefront. He caused Chelsea so many problems. The midfield was so fluid, they all want the ball, they made life so difficult for Chelsea.

"Lanzini’s so clever that he always knows what’s around him. For his goal, he’s deadly. Give him the time and he will punish you."

Lanzini has blended in seamlessly with the rest of the Hammers squad this season and is just another example of the strong recruitment carried out at West Ham in recent seasons.

The Argentine should be a prominent member of the first team once again next campaign and, should the likes of Lanzini, Dimitri Payet and more have a little more luck with injuries, West Ham will surely do even better next time out.

As for the short term, Crystal Palace visit Upton Park for West Ham's next Premier League clash.
