Indeed, the pundit insists it is 'criminal' for Villa to be playing in the Championship next term but that's the way things look with the Midlands club rooted to the foot of the top flight on just 16 points.
However, Redknapp believes Villa will start the Championship campaign as favourites to go up.
And that, he says, will give Grealish and Green the chance to make a big impression in the second tier.
Redknapp told Saturday Night Football after full-time: "It’s criminal for Aston Villa not to be in the Premier League. But they’ll probably start next season as favourites [in the Championship] and it’s a great opportunity for the likes of Jack Grealish and Andre Green to make a big impression."
Youth may well be the way forward for Aston Villa, although that will require a good infrastructure to bring young players through.
Considering the off-field struggles Villa have had to endure in recent years, too much pressure shouldn't be placed on their academy.
It will certainly be interesting, though, to see exactly what happens to the Midlands club's senior and youth squads over the summer.
