Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth went head-to-head this weekend.
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has taken to Twitter to send a rather telling message regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s latest performance.
Spurs headed into their clash against Bournemouth eight points behind Premier League leaders Leicester City, but if the nerves are showing as the title race approaches the final straight they were not in evidence as Mauricio Pochettino’s side ran out comfortable winners.
Striker Harry Kane put Tottenham ahead after just 44 seconds and from there they only got better, with the England international adding a second and Christian Eriksen scoring a third.
North London rivals Arsenal will have been watching this match hoping to make up some ground after their 2-0 win against Everton 24 hours earlier, but they will have no doubt felt as Wright did while watching this performance.
Wright has not been shy in commenting on Tottenham’s title credentials this season but on Sunday it seemed he could not ignore their brilliance, tweeting simply, “OMG! Spurs.”
It is a brief message but also a telling one, as no one can deny just how good they were this weekend and how deserving they are of a place in the top-two this season.
Whether they can go one better by the end of the campaign remains to be seen but former Tottenham player Micky Hazard also expressed his delight at the performance.
Taking to social media after the final whistle, Hazard wrote, "That was brilliant, what a joy to watch. These boys are just awesome, they are on fire."
