Besiktas release statement denying reports they have agreed £8.6m deal with West Ham for Gokhan Tore

Reports have claimed a deal is done between the two teams.

Reports in Turkey this week have suggested that West Ham United had agreed a deal for former Chelsea youngster Gokhan Tore.

The Turkish international winger is currently with Besiktas and worked at the club with West Ham's current boss Slaven Bilic.

Takvim reported that West Ham and Besiktas have agreed an €11 million (£8.6 million) fee and that the deal would be announced in May.

But despite the seemingly legitimate nature of these reports it looks like they are in fact false.

At least according to the Turkish club.

Besiktas have gone to the extraordinary measure of issuing an official statement on the rumours - to quash any more talk about his potential departure.

The Turkish side stated, as reported by Turkish football:

“Reports in the Takvim and Fotomac newspapers today claiming that Gokhan Tore has been signed by West Ham United and that the details of the transfer will be announced in May are false.”

West Ham have been linked with Tore ever since Bilic headed to England from his former club, with the attacker one of the higher rated members of the squad.

However it seems the reports of his imminent arrival were seemingly premature.

Tore would be a great acquisition from West Ham and he plays in a very similar style to that of current player of the season Dimitri Payet.

Whilst the deal is not currently on the cards, it is certainly worth keeping tabs on this potential deal.
