Arsenal have been linked with Nimes ace Anthony Koura.

According to France Football, Arsenal have made an approach for Nimes ace Anthony Koura.

The French publication reports that Arsenal have followed up their scouting of the striker by making an approach, with speculation in France suggesting a deal could be at an advanced stage.

The 22-year-old has had a decent campaign this season, scoring nine league goals in 24 appearances for the French second division who currently sit just three points above the drop zone.

Koura came through the Le Mans academy and featured for the French youth teams as a youngster, showing promise and netting in the under-17 European Championships back in 2010.

But since then he has gone off the radar somewhat, not helped by Nimes’ poor season in Ligue 2 and having not represented his country at any level for the past three years.

The report claims that Premier League trio Stoke City, Newcastle United and Sunderland have all taken a look at him this season, yet it is Arsenal who are seemingly pushing ahead for his signature.

The Gunners are renowned for picking up talent from abroad, training them accordingly and bringning them through to the first-team squad - usually to the surprise of Premier League observers.

Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin are all examples of decent acquisitions from France in recent years, and with the right coaching Koura could turn in to a top striker.

The youngster is blessed with decent pace, sharp movement in the final third and an eye for goal.
