Thierry Henry says that he would question John Stones’, Ross Barkley’s and Romelu Lukaku’s consistency if they were to move to Arsenal in the summer.
It was put to Henry on Sky Sports programme Soccer AM, which was broadcast on 12th March, that Arsenal should be looking to sign the trio of Everton players in the summer transfer window.
However, the former French international striker says that he would have questions marks over whether any of Everton’s hottest prospects would enhance the quality of Arsenal’s starting line-up.
“I would question their consistency,” Henry said. “Especially when you go and play for a big club, when you are up against a team that defend really deep. Can Lukaku play in the last third like he would with Everton on the counter?
“Can Ross Barkley run the show at Arsenal? I don’t know.”
Everton, of course, would almost certainly not agree to any deal which would see their three prized prospects join Arsenal in the same transfer window, but the debate remains an interesting one.
Lukaku has scored 25 goals in all competitions this season, which would put him well ahead of any player in Arsenal’s current squad.
Stones, meanwhile, has the technique required to play in Wenger’s team, as he is so comfortable in possession.
If Barkley was to move to the North London club he would have to displace the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alex Sanchez in Arsenal’s team, which would make the competition for places at the Emirates Stadium fierce.
