The Frenchman has been the star of the show for West Ham United this season.
Payet has been one of the signings of the season so far, with numerous impressive displays for Slaven Bilic’s side.
The latest of those was in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United last weekend, in which he scored a superb free kick to give his side the lead in the game.
He is arguably the star of the show, just as Di Canio was during his time at Upton Park, and Parker says Payet does remind him of the club’s former Italian maestro.
“Payet is what you’d call a ‘West Ham player’ in that he has the style and attitude that I know the West Ham fans love and what they have come to expect down the years.
“He reminds me of Paolo Di Canio with his skills, so it’s no surprise the supporters love him!”
West Ham will now be hoping that Payet can continue to be the star man as they hunt down a potential place in the top four and subsequent Champions League football.
They are currently fifth in the table, just two points behind Manchester City in fourth and three points behind London rivals Arsenal in third.
With just nine games remaining that leaves the Hammers with a serious chance of making a late charge into the top four by the end of the campaign and Payet’s form will be key to that.
