Report: Liverpool eye Roma defender Kostas Manolas

The Reds are reportedly keen on a move for the Greek defender in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are eyeing a summer move for Roma defender Kostas Manolas, according to a report from CalcioMercato.

The Reds have struggled with defensive problems again this season, with both Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp having failed to categorically solve the issue.

Poor form, coupled with a spate of injuries had at one point seen Klopp use midfielder Lucas Leiva in a central defensive role, with him shining in the position in the Capital One cup final loss to Manchester City.

They have already moved to strengthen that area of the team for next year by capturing Joel Matip on a free transfer from Schalke in Germany.

However, it seems that the Reds won’t leave it at just one new centre half arriving at the club and are eyeing up further recruits in the position.

And one potential signing could be Roma defender Kostas Manolas, with CalcioMercato reporting that they have set their sights on the Greek defender, who’s current deal runs out in 2019.

The Italians would not likely be keen on selling their man though, with the defender having proved a big hit since joining from Olympiacos in 2014
