Patrick Kluivert explains what's amazed him about Ronald Koeman's management of Southampton

Ronald Koeman has done an excellent job at Southampton so far.

Patrick Kluivert has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSPORT that it is amazing how well Ronald Koeman has got Southampton playing.

Koeman took over from Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton at the start of last season, and he has done a highly impressive job at St. Mary’s.

Despite losing a number of his key players, Koeman managed to guide the Saints to a seventh placed finish last term and he has kept them in the upper echelons this time around.

Southampton are on course to challenge for a European place once again, and Kluivert feels that Koeman deserves a big move.

“He’s doing a great job at Southampton,” he said. “It’s amazing how he’s managed to get Southampton to play. If a big club comes in for Ronald Koeman, I think he’ll deserve it.”

Koeman’s success at Southampton was widely heralded last term, but the superb job he is doing on the south coast has largely gone without recognition this term.

That, in itself, is a credit to the Saints - as it is no longer a surprise to see them competing in the top half of the Premier League.

Southampton still have some hope of bettering last season’s finish, too, as they are hot on the heels of the likes of West Ham United and Manchester United.

Koeman’s men are just three points behind the Red Devils, and they are looking to claim a spot in Europe for next season.
