Muhamed Besic says Everton boss Roberto Martinez was the reason why he moved to Everton

Muhamed Besic has made 42 appearances for Everton during his career to date.

Muhamed Besic has told Everton’s official site that Roberto Martinez was the reason why he moved to Goodison Park.

Besic joined Everton from Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the summer of 2014, and he has made an excellent impression on Merseyside.

Besic has caught the eye with his combative streak in midfield, and he believes part of the reason why he has been able to excel is down to Martinez's managerial ability.

“The reason I came here is because of Roberto Martinez,” Besic said. “He’s a fantastic coach, and he told me that Everton was a big and traditional club. That’s why I choose Everton.”

Besic is still developing as a player, but he has quickly become a fans’ favourite at Goodison Park for his whole-hearted approach.

The 23-year-old has recently penned a new long-term contract with the Toffees, and there are great hopes for his future.

Although Besic is not a permanent starter yet, he is expected to become an integral part of Martinez’s side over the coming years.

So far during his Everton career Besic has made 42 appearances, but he is yet to open his goalscoring account for the Merseyside club.
