The Reds will take on Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The former Liverpool striker believes that the game will end in a 1-1 draw.
“Southampton have blown hot and cold in recent weeks but they got back on the winning trail with a 2-1 win at Stoke last week, and I think they may follow it up with a 1-1 home draw against Liverpool this weekend,” Owen wrote on Colossusbets.com.
“That was the score line when the two sides met in October. A lot of people may want to side with Saints given that Liverpool were in action against Man Utd in the second leg of their Europa League game on Thursday night, but I’ll take a low-scoring draw.”
Southampton are aiming to clinch a European place, and the players will give their all against Liverpool.
Liverpool actually have a chance of breaking into the top four of the Premier League this season.
Playing at home will give Ronald Koeman’s side an advantage, but Liverpool’s chances of picking up all three points cannot be written off.
Jurgen Klopp’s side booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday evening, and the Merseyside outfit will be keen on building on that ‘success’ with victory over Southampton on Sunday.
