Glenn Hoddle said on the UEFA Europa League Highlights show on ITV on Thursday night (March 17) that Tottenham Hotspur need to be more ruthless.
The Tottenham legend made the comments following the North London outfit’s 2-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund at home in the second leg of the Europa League last-16 tie at White Hart Lane.
The result at White Hart Lane on Thursday evening meant that Spurs lost the tie 5-1 on aggregate.
Tottenham will now focus solely on the Premier League, and next up for Mauricio Pochettino’s side is a home match against Bournemouth.
Hoddle believes that Spurs need to be ruthless against the Cherries at White Hart Lane on Sunday evening.
The former Chelsea midfielder has also claimed that Tottenham lack creativity at times, and believes that the league title is Leicester City’s to lose.
“Spurs now have really got to be ruthless," said Hoddle on the UEFA Europa League Highlights show on ITV on Thursday night (March 17). "They have got to make sure that they stay on Leicester’s heels, and that they can put pressure on Leicester.
"It’s Leicester’s to lose now, in my opinion. I just feel sometimes that Spurs are lacking that little bit of creation at times, just to open the door when it’s tight, and I think they will need that against Bournemouth."
Leicester are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment with 63 points from 30 matches.
Tottenham are five points behind the Foxes in second place, with Arsenal and Manchester City currently third and fourth respectively in the standings.
