Glenn Hoddle criticises Alderweireld and Lloris for mistakes against Dortmund

The former Tottenham boss has been discussing the north London side's Europa League defeat to Thomas Tuchel's men.

Glenn Hoddle felt Toby Alderweireld and Hugo Lloris were at fault for the first goal Tottenham Hotspur conceded against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night, according to ITV Football.

Indeed, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a stunner from long distance but the pundit found flaws with Tottenham's defending during the move...

Hoddle told ITV's Europa League highlights show: "Alderweireld drops off but should get tighter. But Lloris is too far off his line, that’s a goalkeeping error. That’s something they could address."

Hoddle also spoke of his disappointment that Spurs didn't play their best side in either leg against Dortmund.

But it's difficult to single out anything that could have saved this tie for Tottenham. Dortmund were applauded off by the home fans and there's no shame in simply admitting the north London side were beaten by the better team.

Borussia Dortmund are a Champions League side. If they don't win the Europa League, it'll be the result of a momentous performance from whoever beats them (there's a reason they're the favourites).

Tottenham can now concentrate on the Premier League and, even if they finish second, this has been a superb season at White Hart Lane.
