West Ham are not awarded penalties often.
West Ham United are currently in fantastic form and still retain hope of potentially making the Champions League places for next season.
Their form has however come against what some might fell is unfair refereeing against West Ham, specifically regarding the amount of penalties they are awarded.
There is no doubt that West Ham have not been awarded many penalties this season. They are one of only four teams - along with Newcastle United, Norwich City and Sunderland - to be awarded just the one penalty this season in the Premier League.
This has not gone unnoticed by the club's co-chairman David Gold.
He took to Twitter yesterday to have his say on the lack of penalties awarded to West Ham in recent times:
In the last 4 years West Ham have been awarded 9 penalties, over the same period Liverpool and Man City have had 26 each. ?????? dg— David Gold (@davidgold) March 17, 2016
Over the last 4years in the Premier League West Ham are the only club not to have been awarded a penalty away from home. ?????? dg— David Gold (@davidgold) March 17, 2016
Those are quite startling stats and it has always been believed the 'bigger clubs' tend to get more penalty awards going their way than the chasing pack.
West Ham fans might even be forgiven for thinking there is some sort of conspiracy going on. They can't buy a penalty and none of their players can get in the England squad.
But if the results keep coming in then Hammers fans won't be too concerned.
