Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino hopes to have both players available.
The Argentine was asked the question about the injured duo at his press conference, screened by Press Bureau TV, ahead of the Borussia Dortmund Europa League second leg.
He was upbeat about the two players, who have each missed several weeks of action.
Pochettino said: "Him (Vertonghen) and N'Jie are in a very good situation. We expect in the next week, they start to do something with group, train with squad.
"May be after the international break they will be available for Liverpool, for selection."
If they are not able to be considered for the game at Anfield, Tottenham have a big game eight days later at home to Manchester United, which they would certainly hope to have the duo back for.
N'Jie, a summer signing from Lyon, was used mainly as an impact player during the first half of the season and would likely go back to featuring on the bench, hoping to stretch games, and prove why he should be considered as a starter.
The decision on Jan Vertonghen is less easy, with Kevin Wimmer deputising for him without missing a beat, Mauricio Pochettino will have a big call to make on whether to bring him straight back in for such a big couple of fixtures.
