Stan Collymore declares Aston Villa as the worst Premier League side ever

Aston Villa are currently nine points adrift of safety in the Premier League table.

Stan Collymore has stated on TalkSPORT programme Kick Off that Aston Villa are the worst team in the history of the Premier League.

Villa have won just three Premier League matches all season, and they sit nine points adrift of safety.

The Claret and Blues have collected just 16 points in their 30 league matches to date, and they have lost their last five fixtures in succession.

Collymore now feels that Villa have to be considered as the worst team in the Premier League history, as they have been so poor this term.

“Villa are the worst Premier League I have ever seen - in the history of the 25 years of the league,” he stated. “The worst!”

Collymore’s argument is based on his opinion that he believes that the Premier League is very weak this season.

The former Villa striker argues that the fact Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur have been able to mount title pushes, proves that the usual title chasers are not as strong as they have been in previous years.

Villa cannot be statistically considered the worst team of the Premier League era, as they have already surpassed Derby County’s points total during the 2007/08 season.

The Rams collected just 11 points during that campaign, with their solitary victory coming against Newcastle United.
