Spurs lose to Dortmund: Did anyone impress in Europa League defeat?

White Hart Lane 5

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 2-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night, but did anyone impress for the home side at White Hart Lane.

Hugo Lloris 6 - Didn't have a whole lot to do apart from pick the ball out of his net on two occasions. May feel he could have got more behind the ball for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's second goal.

Kieran Trippier 6 - Tough night for the Englishman but he plugged away despite not seeing a lot of the ball. A good learning experience.

Kevin Wimmer 6 - Not his best night in a Spurs shirt. One of several players who didn't do enough to prevent Dortmund's second goal.

Toby Alderweireld 6 - Composed as ever on the ball and wowed the downbeat crowd with a sublime piece of skill in the first half. Could have offered more defensively, however.

Ben Davies 5 - Suffered what appeared to be a concussion just minutes into the match after a nasty collision with Lloris.

Eric Dier 7 - Admirable effort as he tried to cope with the fluency of Dortmund's attack. Another learning curve ahead of similar tests next year.

Ryan Mason 6 - Did a lot of running but struggled to make any kind of an impact. May find it tough to remain in the squad if Pochettino is to take Spurs to the next level.

Nacer Chadli 5 - The Moroccan was ineffective, like he was in the first leg. Has lost his way a little since netting against Swansea City a couple of weeks ago.

Dele Alli 6 - Pushed the limit when it came to his physicality but wasn't in danger of any cards on this occasion. He was substituted midway through the second half.

Erik Lamela 6 - The Argentine was featuring in his 100th game in a Spurs shirt but failed to provide the creative spark expected of him.

Son Heung-Min 7 - Had the difficult task of replacing Harry Kane but didn't get much change out of a strong Dortmund defence. Deserved his goal for sheer persistence more than anything else.

Danny Rose 7 - Replaced Davies early on gave a good account of himself on a day where he was called up to the England squad.

Tom Carroll 5 - Like Mason, didn't offer a lot in the centre of the park when introduced in the second half.

Josh Onomah 5 - Nothing more than a token appearance for the youngster, but he may benefit from the experience.
