Lanzini is currently on loan at Upton Park from Al Jazira, but the Hammers made sure that they put a clause in the deal which allowed them to buy the attacking midfielder outright for a set price.
Bilic says that he decided a long time ago that West Ham would be purchasing the 23-year-old on a permanent deal, as he sees the Argentine as a major part of his side’s future.
“Lanzini is a clear situation from the start,” Bilic insisted. “He came on loan from Al Jazira and we had an option and the contract is there so he’s our player and he’s happy here and we’re of course happy with him and we want him in the club for a long, long time. My staff decided long ago that we want to activate that option.”
Lanzini arrived at West Ham as a relative unknown, but he has taken no time to establish a reputation as one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Premier League.
The youngster has adapted to English football with ease, and he now plays a key role for the Hammers.
Lanzini and Dimitri Payet have been Bilic’s side’s two main architects throughout the campaign, and they have created numerous chances for their teammates.
Lanzini has now made 17 Premier League appearances for the Hammers, scoring four times and claiming one assist.
His next chance to impress is likely to come against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
